The Most Important Relationship You’ll Ever Have

February often shines a spotlight on relationships, but the most important relationship you’ll ever nurture is the one you have with yourself.

Self-love isn’t about being perfect or never experiencing self-doubt. It’s about recognizing your worth, speaking to yourself with kindness, and believing you deserve care, rest, and happiness.

As Black women, we are often expected to be everything for everyone. We care for our families, support our communities, and excel in our careers—sometimes at the expense of ourselves.

This month, consider asking yourself:

  • Do I speak to myself with compassion?
  • Am I setting healthy boundaries?
  • Do I allow myself time to rest?
  • Am I celebrating my accomplishments?

Loving yourself means making choices that protect your peace and support your well-being.

Reflection

Write down three things you appreciate about yourself that have nothing to do with your accomplishments.

Wellness Tip

Schedule one hour this week to do something that simply brings you joy.
